If you don't want to make the lines seem obvious, you can create a smoky effect by smudging it using a cotton swab or an eye brush. Take your time in practicing until you get the hang of it. If you intend to use a liquid eyeliner, it is highly important that you have steady hands to avoid messing it up. As usual, stick to the basics when applying the liner like drawing it as near as possible to the lashes, etc.
